NORM waste often occurs during the extraction of natural gas, as well as during the dismantling of extraction areas. NORM residues can also occur in drinking water treatment or sewage sludge as well as in geothermal energy.

The ZETTL technology uses both physical stabilization by mixing with other materials and placing in special containers and chemical stabilization to reduce or prevent the mobility of the residues.
